Did you see video or read the story about Barack Obama's recent trip to the lanes?
Sen. Obama decided to rub elbows with the "common man" by doing a little bowling while campaigning in Pennsylvania. He manged a 37 through 7 frames, at which point, mercifully, he had to move on to another campaign appearance. Its not clear what was worse; his incredibly lame score or the fact that he bowled (ala Richard Nixon) wearing a tie.
This followed quickly on the heels of a stop at a famous chocolate factory in Lilitz, PA, where Obama refused to sample the wares, much to the chagrin of the locals. This is in dramatic contrast to some of the great campaigners of our time. Nelson Rockefeller, for example, never met a kinish or an Italian sausage he didn't eat.
Maybe Obama should limit his appearances to college campuses where he can sip lattes with effete academes. It looks like he'd be more comfortable in that setting than in the blue collar venues.

I'm shocked that you would mock the fact that Senator Obama is not blue collar. I mean come off it - George Bush, according to Kurt Smith his Dad's speech writter- doesn't have a middle class bone in his body. Drunk till he was 40, when due to embarassment, Daddy had to have "the boys" up front some big cash to buy the Rangers for him to play with - ( and Laura threatened to kick his unaccomplished ass out) your man for President is the face of an upper claas- pretty boy. Senator Obamba by virtue of who he is - is more of a man than our soon to be - THANK GOD ALMIGHTY - ex-President dubbya.
Anon:
My "criticism" if that's what you want to call it, was not that Obama isn't "blue collar", its that he doesn't have any rapport with "Joe Sixpack".
Say what you want about "blueblood George", he at least gave the impression that he'd be fun to hang out with. Moreover, he seems a little more "manly" than Obama. Did you happen to catch him throwing out the first pitch at the new Washington baseball stadium? He threw from the mound and made a perfect strike to the catcher. This was quite a contrast to Obama's 37 in 7 frames of bowling.
Obama's not going to be cutting wood on a ranch during his vacations. He'll be more likely to follow the examples of Democrats who went before him like John Kerry (the great windsurfer and Davos vacationner) and Bill (I'll meet you in Nantucket) Clinton.
